The Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation is a Virginia Corporation which meets tax exempt status under IRS code 501(c)(3).

According to the Foundation's web site, "formerly Wings over the Atlantic, became a national organization in 2003. Originally established in 1987, our mission is to provide college scholarships to dependent children and spouses of all Naval Air commands. Recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic merit, community service and financial need.

"Wings over America annually sponsors over 20 scholarships to students who have chosen to continue their education. The foundation is funded solely through the generous contributions of private and corporate sources. Since 1987 the foundation has proudly awarded over $100,000 to outstanding students.
