- "Mazach served 32 years in the United States Navy as a naval aviator, flying fighter and attack aircraft from numerous aircraft carriers during his career. Prior to retiring with the rank of vice admiral as commander, Naval Air Force, U. S. Atlantic Fleet, Mazach was director for Strategy and Policy for the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, DC. He also served as commander for Carrier Group Two, deputy director for Plans and Policy for the Commander in Chief, U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany and he commanded the USS America (CV 66) during Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1991."
