Biographical Information

"Powell has been a Senior Advisor and consultant to Roark since February 2012. He has consulted with Roark on numerous investments including Atkins Nutritionals, Massage Envy, and Corner Bakery. Powell also advises on Roark’s new investment and portfolio management initiatives. He has extensive experience investing in and operating consumer products and services, retail, franchise and direct marketing businesses. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Atkins Nutritionals, Massage Envy and Brand Central, LLC. Powell was previously a Managing Director and Group Head of Consumer Investment Banking for RBC Capital Markets and Prudential Securities where he specialized in crafting and executing merger/acquisition, leveraged finance and public equity offering strategies for consumer sector clients. His sector experience includes personal care; food, beverage and nutrition; health and fitness; apparel and accessories; home décor; and restaurants and foodservice. Powell’s professional experience also includes corporate finance positions with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, L.F. Rothschild & Co. and Arthur Andersen. In addition, he is actively involved with Business Executives for National Security. Powell received a B.S. in Accounting and an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia."
