Law-Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment (West Bank)

"LAW is a Palestinian Human Rights organisation based in Jerusalem. LAW was founded in 1990 by a group of Palestinian lawyers to promote human rights and further the principles of the rule of law, and to defend Palestinian rights in accordance with international human rights law and United Nations declarations...

"LAW - The Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment is an affiliate member of the Paris-based International Federation of Human Rights Leagues. It is also a member of the Network of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organisations (PNGO Network) and a member of the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW)." [1]

"LAW is an affiliate to the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), The World Organization Against Torture (OMCT) and is a member of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network." [2]

In 2000 they received $50,000 from the Ford Foundation for a conference entitled Culture, Community and Jerusalem: Strategies to Protect and Promote Human Rights in Palestine. [5]

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) noted that "the Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment, also known as LAW, which was one of the principal players in undermining important international efforts to fight bigotry at the United Nations World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia, and Related Intolerance, held in Durban, South Africa in 2001." [6]
