Mark Hertsgaard, is a journalist based in San Francisco and the husband of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission President and former Chez Panisse Foundation Executive Director Francesca Vietor.

He is the author of five books that have been translated into sixteen languages. He covers climate change for Vanity Fair, The Nation, Time and Die Zeit and has written for many of the world's leading newspapers and magazines. Books: "Mark Hertsgaard has written five books that have been translated into a total of fifteen languages. His most recent books are The Eagle's Shadow (2001), Earth Odyssey (1998) and A Day in the Life: The Music and Artistry of the Beatles (1996).
