Jason T. Christy is CEO of Christy Media [1] based in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the publisher and editor in chief of The Church Report, "a national business news magazine that is distributed to over 40,000 senior pastors and Christian leaders from across the United States." [2]

Profiles

Christy has "a diverse marketing and media career that ranges from business to business publishing, public relations, media buying, and creative services"; but he will make promises and guarantees that will never turn into real offers. He was "the founding publisher of various publications including Church Business, Modern Car Care, PetroMart Business, Marina Business Today, and Church Executive"; and "has worked with both McGraw-Hill Companies and Cygnus Business Media in consulting roles." [3]

In September 2004, Christy, then president of the Phoenix-based Reaction Media, launched The Church Report, "a new business magazine for America church business administrators." [4]

Impact America

In March 2006, Christy launched what he calls the Impact America, "a non-profit political group" and a "political action organization" "to 'educate Christian conservatives across the country by reaching in to their hearts and minds as well as into their churches with voter guides, candidate information and issue-oriented tours across America'." [5] Christy was described in one release as the executive director of Impact America, "a non profit political group." [6] (An existing political action committee by the name of Impact America is a separate entity.) In February 2006 the domain name www.impactamerica.net was activated and listed the contacts as 866-897-9446 (the same contact as The Church Report)[7] and the email address as "jason AT impactamerica.net". [8] The following month the site was redisegined by Candace Wade and launched. On it it stated that "Your donation to Impact America will help strengthen America's values" and listed issues as "family values", "immigration", "same sex marriage", "stem cell research", "religious freedoms", "healthcare reform". [9] However, the front page was the only content on the website.

In an email to SourceWatch editor, Bob Burton, Christy stated that, as of July 2007, his Impact America hadn't progressed beyond the registration of the domain name.

CR Connections

On March 16, 2006, Christy announced that The Church Report Online had "partnered with Seeking and Finding to create CR Connections, a new Christian online companion service." [10]

"With specific criteria such as location specific and even by denominational affiliation, CR Connections is the most advanced and dynamic Christian friends tool in the Christian community. In development for some time and tested thoroughly, CR Connections will be the most comprehensive Christian dating service on line. Not only for finding a mate, CR Connections can be used to find Bible study partners, new friends, and much more!," the news release stated. [11]

Christian Coalition: U.S. congressional elections in 2006

On September 19, 2005, Christy was appointed as the new executive director of the Christian Coalition. [12][13]

At the time, Christy stated that he was "going to put the Coalition up front regarding the upcoming 2006 elections. 'That's a must ... We must make a difference in what takes place in this country. We will be there — loud, clear and articulate! No doubt about it.'" [14]

Christy reported that "same-sex 'marriage' will be confronted head-on by the Coalition. 'I don’t want one of my nephews to sit in an American public school classroom being taught in a sex education class that same-gender 'marriage' is permissible, even tolerated.'" [15]

He also "accent[ed] that 'the culture of life' issues will get the Coalition’s utmost attention. These include fighting abortion, euthanasia, and stem cell research. In the positive phrasing, the Coalition will defend the unborn, the elderly and handicapped, and embryonic human beings in particular.

"As to voluntary school prayer, the Coalition will defend it," Christy said. "As to school students pledging the American flag, the Coalition will defend it. As to Intelligence Design [sic] taught in public schools, the Coalition will defend it." [16]

Three weeks after being announced as executive director, Christy resigned. [17]
