The Institute for Fiscal Studies is a UK think tank which produces reports on the economic viability of various Government proposals.

It exists to "exists to provide top quality economic analysis independent of government, political party or any other vested interest." [1]

Founded in 1979 by Dick Taverne and backrolled by his friend David Sainsbury's Gatsby Foundation.
