Biographical Information
"Tracey Durning is the founder of 49 prince street, a small company that designs and builds collaborative social action platforms towards scaled, sustainable social change. She is also the Chief Strategist to Planet Heritage Foundation (PHF), driving and managing its philanthropic activities around oceans, climate change, and sustainable development.
"Between 2010-11, with PHF, Oak Foundation, Waitt Foundation, and the Marisla Foundation, she developed and launched Oceans 5, a global funder's collaborative with the shared goal of improving conservation of the world's five oceans. Oceans 5 is focused on significantly expanding marine reserves and restraining overfishing. The platform is a powerful mechanism for Partners to share and leverage their assets (funding, knowledge, networks and influence), while giving new funders a safe, trusted place to invest with confidence.
"In the past seven years, Durning has built and/or supported an array of big picture, pro-social initiatives grounded in strategic collaborations including Oceans 5, the Electrification Coalition, TED's Mission Blue Galapagos Voyage, Richard Branson's Carbon War Room, Edward Norton's Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, and so on. She has also helped launch a variety of social enterprises and national/international campaigns (portfolio).
"Durning is a former journalist and pro-social filmmaker, having Executive Produced the feature film Freedom Writers starring Hilary Swank, based on a story she wrote and produced for ABC News Primetime Live. She also produced/directed various documentaries and continues to use film as an integral campaign driver to raise awareness, deepen dialogue and prompt action. Her career began in broadcast where she was a producer for ABC News, CBS News, CNN and MTV.
