He’s traveled widely in Africa, Latin America and Europe and was Executive Director of the Jane Goodall Institute from 1998-2001. He began his career as a Sr. Legislative Aide to U.S. Senator Lowell Weicker, drafting legislation, working on the Senate floor, and covering a range of issues with a focus on federal budget and tax policy.
"Currently, Stewart is a member of the Board of the Connecticut Council on Philanthropy, the national Climate and Energy Funders Group, the Keystone Center, and the Eli Whitney Museum. He serves on the advisory board of the Center for Business and Environment at Yale University and the Frank Porter Graham Institute at the University of North Carolina and served as a member of the 2009 Energy Study Committee of the CT Academy of Sciences. Previously, he was a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and was founding Chairman of the energy marketing group SmartPower.
"Stewart has extensive media experience, in television, radio and print, and he blogs for solveclimate.org He has provided interviews in both Spanish and English on a variety of issues including environmental protection, education, philanthropy, and best practices in the management of foundation endowments. He has a BA in History from Yale University, and holds a Master’s Degree in International Development from American University.
