Stephen Crawford is the Director, Social, Economic, & Workforce Programs Division, of the National Governors Association.

EXPERTISE "Duties: Directs policy analysis, technical assistance and resource development for the Social, Economic, and Workforce Programs Division, which works with states to identify, share and implement best practices in economic and workforce development, children and families, youth development, welfare reform and criminal justice. Crawford is an expert on workforce development and the public policy process.

CURRENT PROJECTS "Division projects include conducting policy and program reviews for new governors, assisting states with workforce development performance management, improving state capacity to address the needs of low-income working families, and helping states to obtain better outcomes for youth ageing out of foster care. The division is also is hosting "policy academies" on young adults with disabilities, ex-offender "reentry," and access to post-secondary education, and it is sponsoring "learning networks" for governors' policy advisors in the areas of human services, workforce development, economic development, and criminal justice.
