National Policy Association
The National Policy Association "was founded in 1934 by distinguished business and labor leaders who believed that the private sector should actively participate in the formulation of public policy. Since its foundation, NPA's goal has been to seek common ground on effective and innovative strategies that address a range of cutting-edge issues of vital significance to the security and prosperity of America." [1]
The organization is now defunct, with its website last active in December 2003.[2] The groups last annual return was filed with the Internal Revenue Service for the 2003 calendar year. The group's last return revealed the organization's parlous financial position, with total revenue - including from asset sales - of just over $152,000 while expenditure that year ran at over $491,000.[3] With its assets sold and reserve depleted, the group folded. In May 2003, the Board voted to dissolve the group, effective as of December 31, 2003.[4]

2002 Gold Medal Award Dinner
"The Gold Medal Award, NPA's highest honor, is given each year to outstanding Americans who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in promoting a more productive and just society. Honorees exemplify NPA's commitment to business/labor partnerships and to multisectoral efforts to better serve the nation and society.
The honorees for this year are James A. Baker, III, Senior Partner, Baker & Botts, LLP; R. Thomas Buffenbarger, International President, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM); and Richard J. Schmeelk, Chairman, CAI Advisors & Co., and a former Chair of NPA's Board of Trustees. The awards will be presented at the Gold Medal Award Dinner, which will take place at The Westin Embassy Row in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, November 5, 2002." [5]
