RedState.com was launched in 2004 as a 527 political action committee. In 2005 the name was changed from RedState.org to RedState.com "to create a for-profit entity that could accept advertising."[1]

In mid-December 2006[2], the "conservative community group site announced it had agreed to be purchased by Eagle Publishing, the parent company of Human Events, Regnery Publishing, Evans-Novak Political Report, the Conservative Book Club, among other movement conservative publishing enterprises."[3]
