"In May 2001, Mr. Pierre Sané was appointed Sous-Directeur general for social and human sciences with UNESCO, Paris.

"From October 1992 to April 2001, Mr. Pierre Sané occupied the post of Secretary general of Amnesty International (AI).

"In his capacity as Secretary General of Amnesty International, Mr. Sané went in many countries to sensitize the authorities with the questions of the human rights and to express the solidarity of AI with regard to the victims of violations of the human rights and ONG. These missions brought it in various countries, in particular: in Israel, in the occupied Territories/Palestinian Authority, in South Africa, in Peru, in Colombia, in the United States of America, in Mexico, in Kenya, in Rwanda, in Morocco, in Republic of Korea, in Spain, in Ivory Coast and in Mali.

"In 1998, Mr. Sané conducted the world campaign of AI marking the 50e birthday of the universal Declaration of the human rights by drawing the world attention to the threats which weigh on the defenders of the human rights.

"Under its direction, Amnesty International was reorganized considerably. It introduced there strategic planning, the evaluation, the internal audit, the centralized collection of funds and the reaction to crises.

"The university training of Mr. Sané includes/understands doctoral studies in political science at the Carleton University of Ottawa (Canada), a control of sciences in public administration and political governmental of London School of Economics; he is an approved accountant and holds a control of management of businesses (MBA) of the Higher School of Trade of Bordeaux (Bordeaux Ecole of Management, France)."
