"Nick joined the Department for Culture Media and Sport on September 1st 2003 as a Special Adviser to the Secretary of State, the Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP. He left DCMS in June 2007, in order to spend more time in his native Manchester and to co-found a new kind of consultancy, TLG Communications. TLG is a strategic communications consultancy that specialises in the theory and the practice of Thought Leadership. Founded in October 2007 and based in Covent Garden, TLG has a distinguished Leadership Panel and a growing team of professionals on staff. TLG is working with a number of major commercial and public sector brands to use Thought Leadership campaigns to drive their reputation and enhance their relationships with stakeholders – whether the public, the media, investors, civil society or political decision-makers.

"Nick originally joined DCMS from the think tank Policy Network, where he worked for Peter Mandelson and was Director of the 2003 Progressive Governance Conference, a gathering of centre-left academics and politicians from 35 countries which was hosted by Prime Minister Tony Blair in July that year. Twelve serving Heads of State and Government attended, along with former US President Bill Clinton and various European Commissioners. Prior to joining Policy Network, Nick was a Director and Head of Public Affairs at Burson-Marsteller London, where he specialised in advising companies, NGOs and charities on Corporate Social Responsibility for five years. He also worked in Burson-Marsteller’s Washington office.
