Mongolia Energy Corporation states on its webspage that it has projects and investments in Mongolia and Xinjiang province in China "for oil and gas, coal, ferrous and non-ferrous metal resources."[1]

Background

On its website the company states that it was "formerly known as New World CyberBase, the company moved into the energy and resources industry upon its first acquisition of 34,000 hectares of concession areas at Khushuut and Darvi, Western Mongolia. The company was renamed to Mongolia Energy Corporation Limited (MEC) in 2007. Since June 2008, MEC became a constituent to the MSCI Hong Kong Index."[1]

Coal interests

Mongolia Energy Corporation is the owner of the the Khushuut mine, an open cut coking coal mine in Mongolia with a project life of 19 years mine life with production at 8 million tonnes per annum. The project, which is currently being brought into full production, is being operated by Leighton Asia.[2]
