The Mangini Collection consists of about 80,000 pages of tobacco industry documents derived from the Mangini lawsuit, a 1997 case brought by Janet Mangini that resulted in a legal settlement that forced R.J. Reynolds (RJR) to abandon the Joe Camel campaign.

This collection of once-confidential documents details RJR's youth marketing strategies and chronicles the company's struggle to hold on to market share as American tobacco was declining. The documents demonstrate the company's awareness that as the older generation of smokers dies off, the company's future success depends on its ability to attract young, first-time smokers.

The Mangini Collection of tobacco company documents can be accessed at the web site of the Legacy Tobacco Documents Library.
