Leicestershire Citizens Advice Bureau
"In August 2009 a partnership between the Citizens Advice Bureaux in Leicestershire and Rutland and Macmillan Cancer Support was formed. Funding was secured to deliver a service providing advice to cancer patients, their families and carers across Leicestershire and Rutland. The majority of clients using the service have welfare benefits and other associated issues. This project has proved to be an essential service helping people at a very difficult time." [1]
On March 29, 2013, it was reported that: "The Citizens Advice Bureau has won a £370,000 contract to provide free welfare support and advice. From Tuesday, Leicestershire Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) will take over the service in the city, which is used by 10,000 people a year. It will succeed the Community Legal Advice Centre (CLAC), which will close on Sunday. The change comes about after the Government's Legal Services Commission (LSC) announced it was withdrawing more than £700,000 of funding..." [2]
