"I live in Leicester and worked for South Leicestershire College teaching ESOL, English and Functional Skills from 2012 until 2014.

"I am now a Senior Education Manager for the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) in the East Midlands with specific responsibilities for ESOL, English and maths, safeguarding, Prevent and Curriculum and Quality."[1]

She is a currently a Leicester Organiser for the Workers Educational Association at the 101 Hinckley Road Centre http://wea101.org In January 2014 Karen Chouhan was appointed chairman of Healthwatch Leicester. Ms Chouhan began her career as a youth worker and went on to become race equality officer at Leicester City Council. She was a founding member of the Peepul Centre, in Belgrave, and founded the race equality charity Equanomics UK. Ms Chouhan has been a senior lecturer and programme leader in community education at De Montfort University and now runs an equality consultancy. She has advised several health authorities. Ms Chouhan has won several awards, including from the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust for being a "visionary with ideas for a just and peaceful world". [1]
