James Lyon "has nearly 30 years experience with Balkan affairs and has written and lectured extensively on the politics, history and economics of the former Yugoslavia. His experience includes consulting work in post-Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina and the private sector. He joined the International Crisis Group in January 1999 as an analyst. He then directed ICG projects in Bosnia and Serbia before becoming Special Balkans Adviser in January 2006, a post responsible for Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He left ICG in September 2008 and joined the Democratization Policy Council in October 2008. He is He speaks fluent Serbo-Croatian." [1]
