"Mr. Cornell earned a B.A. in history from Grinnell in 1976 and a law degree from New York Law School in 1981. Mr. Cornell has been with Goldman Sachs & Co., an international securities firm, since 1984. He was made a partner of GS & Co. in 1994 and assumed the duties of Managing Director in 1998. He is a member of the Global Merchant Banking Investment Committees for the firm’s corporate and real estate investment activities. Mr. Cornell has directed over $2.5 billion in investments, including acquisitions in the United States, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, and India. He serves on the Board of Directors of The Ping An Insurance Company of China, The Kookmin Bank of Korea, The Dusit Thani Group, and Rajadamri Public Company Ltd. Mr. Cornell is a Trustee of The Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, a member of The Council on Foreign Relations, a Trustee of the Asia Society, a Trustee of the Citizens Committee for New York City, and a member of the Print Committee of the Whit ney Museu m of American Art. From 1981-84, he practiced law with the firm of Davis, Polk, & Wardwell in New York City and London. He has continued to support Grinnell College through his work in career development programs." [1]
