Heather B. Hamilton

Heather B. Hamilton is Senior Policy Advocate for the Connect US Fund. Heather most recently served as Executive Vice President of Citizens for Global Solutions, a nationwide advocacy organization that promotes greater U.S. cooperation with the world to address today's most pressing global challenges. A recognized expert on the International Criminal Court (ICC), U.S. relations with the United Nations, and women's roles in post-conflict reconstruction, Heather has extensive experience with the print and broadcast media, having appeared on CNN International, BBC World News and numerous National Public Radio shows and in the New York Times, the Financial Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Miami Herald, and The New Republic. She served as Co-Chair of the Washington Working Group on the International Criminal Court and launched the Partnership for Effective Peace Operations, and was deeply engaged in the campaign to defeat the nomination of John Bolton as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. She has served on numerous boards and task forces, including the board of the Campaign for Innocent Civilians in Conflict, the U.S. in the World Task Force, the Connect US Advisory Task Force, the Americans for Informed Democracy Advisory Board, the Center for UN Reform Education Board of Trustees, and the Campaign for UN Reform Board. Heather received her MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution at American University in Washington, DC, concentrating on conflict prevention, gender and conflict, and Africa. While in Kenya with the United Nations, she conducted research with Rwandan government officials, aid agencies and women's organizations on women's roles in post-conflict reconstruction. Her findings were published as a chapter in the Journal of Humanitarian Assistance's book, The Future of the African Great Lakes Region. Heather formerly worked as Manager of the Community Education Center at OMB Watch, a public policy nonprofit in Washington, DC, on nonprofit advocacy and U.S. budget issues. She coordinated the Let America Speak! Coalition and the grassroots section of the coalition opposing the balanced budget amendment. She graduated magna cum laude from Hood College with a BA in political science and minors in French and International Economics.
