- Public health units and some physicians and clinics have begun offering adolescent girls HPV vaccines at no cost through the state's Vaccines for Children Program. According to assistant state health officer Erin Brewer, Louisiana negotiated a discounted price of $96.75 per dose with Merck for Gardasil; the state has received 29,040 doses and an additional 19,300 have been ordered.
