FilmAid International "was founded by members of the entertainment community including Caroline Baron, Julia Ormond, Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal in 1999 in response to the Kosovar refugee crisis. FilmAid, an independent non-profit organization headquartered in New York City, uses film and video to promote health, strengthen communities and enrich the lives of the world’s vulnerable and uprooted. Working closely with international aid agencies, FilmAid is currently operating programs for refugees in East Africa, where screenings draw crowds of over 30,000." [1]

"FilmAid has programs in Kakuma Camp in Kenya and Nduta, Kanembwa and Mtendeli camps in Tanzania and reached a cumulative audience of over one million in 2005." [2]
