Emma Playfair
Emma Playfair "is the Regional Representative for the Ford Foundation in the Middle East and North Africa, based in Cairo. A British human rights lawyer by background, she spent ten years working on human rights in the Middle East, initially as a legal researcher with Al-Haq, the first Palestinian human rights organisation, and then establishing a human rights programme for the Middle East and North Africa in the Ford Foundation’s Cairo Office. She left the Foundation to become Executive Director of Interights, the International Centre for the Legal Protection of Human Rights, in London, UK, returning to Cairo nine years later to take up her present position with the Ford Foundation. She has written on human rights and humanitarian law, and on philanthropy. Amongst her publications, she edited International Law and the Administration of Occupied Territories (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1992)." [1]
