Citizens for Europe

The idea for Citizens for Europe emerged out of public lectures at the London School of Economics, given by Hugo Young and John Monks on Britain and Europe in the New Millennium, and a meeting held on Bastille Day 2000 at Birkbeck College. From an initial group of activists, academics and individuals involved in the debate on Europe, we are now a growing list of people that includes youth activists, political figures from across the party divide, trade union members, journalists and writers and business people. Our supporters include individuals active in the two major pro-European organisations, Britain in Europe and the European Movement.
