Biographical Information

Miss Christine Hancock joined the De Montfort University "Board of Governors in September 2006 and is a member of the Finance and Human Resources Committee. An expert in healthcare, Miss Hancock was educated at Orpington Girls Grammar, holds a BSc Econ (Hons) from the London School of Economics, studied at the London Business School as well as being a registered nurse. Christine started her career as a nurse at Kings College, London, before becoming a Ward Sister at London’s National Heart Hospital. Christine later became Director of Nursing at London’s Bloomsbury Health Service and then accepted the position of CEO at Waltham Forest Health Service.

"The Royal College of Nursing was Christine’s next destination, where she was General Secretary and CEO. From there she became the President of the International Council of Nurses. In 2009 she founded C3 Collaborating for Health, a global charity committed to preventing the epidemic of non communicable diseases. Christine is also a Trustee and Treasurer for the House of St Barnabas, a charity for homeless people, and likes to spend her leisure time walking and visiting France. "
