"Carolyn Gabel-Brett has been a feminist and LGBT activist since the 1970's. She established the Connecticut chapter of NARAL, the National Abortion Rights Action League, and was on the faculty of the University of Connecticut School of Social Work where she coordinated a project on violence against women. She was a founder and co-manager of the Reader's Feast, Hartford's feminist, progressive bookstore café for 12 years. She joined with Miles Rapoport in founding DemocracyWorks in 1999 and was Executive Director 2001- 2003. Carolyn was a leader in the CT Stonewall Foundation, the Connecticut Coalition for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Civil Rights and served on the Board of Latinos/as Contra SIDA. She has worked with Connecticut's Love Makes a Family fighting for full marriage equality in Connecticut.Carolyn has an MSW from the University of Connecticut in Community Organizing.“ [1]
