Biographical Information
Bridget Towle joined the University of Leicester "Council in 2000. After graduating from Exeter in Economics, Law and Politics she taught with VSO in Uganda. On returning home she joined a knitted garment manufacturing plc having studied textile technology and later management at Leicester Polytechnic. She became the firm's marketing director and then joint managing director. Later she was elected Chief Guide and Chair of the Board of Girlguiding UK for a period of five years.
"She is the Vice President of Girlguiding UK and this year was commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire.
"She was awarded the CBE in 2001 and holds honorary doctorates from the Universities of Exeter and Loughborough. She has served as the University's Treasurer since the beginning of 2009.
"Bridget said: "I'm honoured to follow Roger Bettles as Chairman of Council and I look forward to my new role in such an outstanding University.""[1]
