Banu Foundation
The Banu Foundation, "founded in November 2007, seeks to protect and empower women worldwide - both our global "little sisters" and our mothers and grandmothers -- to live lives of dignity, honor, security, and hope.
"Despite many international agreements pledging to protect their basic human rights, women are far more likely than men to be poor, illiterate, and malnourished. They have less access to medical care, education, credit, training, employment, and property ownership. They also have less access to government and the local political institutions that can affect change. Meanwhile, violence against women persists globally and the trafficking of women for sexual slavery has hit all-time highs." [1]
