"Previously, Alwin was Executive Chairman of Inter Link Foods Plc until he retired in January 2007. He founded the company in 1994 with the acquisition of Crossfield Foods in Blackburn which had a turnover of £1.3M. During his leadership the company grew rapidly over 12 years through a process of expansion including organic growth and acquisitions to achieve a turnover of £130M. In 1998 the company was successfully floated on AIM and this marked the beginning of a period of rapid expansion. In 2001 the company was voted AIM company of the Year from 606 companies. In 2003 Alwin was nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year award.
