Craig I. Fields
Dr. Craig I. Fields "was, most recently [approximately 1995-2001][1], Chairman of the Defense Science Board, an advisory board for the Secretary of Defense. From 1990 to 1994, Dr. Fields served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation. He joined the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in 1974, where he later became the Director. DARPA is the research arm of the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
"Dr. Fields is a member of the board of ENSCO, an energy services company; and, Cymfony, an information retrieval company. Dr. Fields is an advisor to the Raytheon Corporation. Dr. Fields serves on the US-Israel Science and Technology Commission. Dr. Fields is on the Advisory Board of the Economic Strategy Institute; and was formerly on the Advisory Boards of SRI International, the Southwest Research Institute and United Technologies. Dr. Fields formerly served on the United States Advisory Council on the National Information Infrastructure, and on the Science and Technology Advisory Panel (STAP), supporting the Director of Central Intelligence. "Dr. Fields works with the Senate and the House of Representatives on technology activities of interest to members of the Congress. He is a frequently invited speaker at community organizations, professional societies, and colleges and universities.
"Dr. Fields received his BS degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. from the Rockefeller University. In 1988, Dr. Fields was awarded the President's Distinguished Executive Rank Award for outstanding service, and in 1990 the President's Meritorious Executive Rank Award. In 2001 Dr. Fields was awarded the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service. Dr. Fields was elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 1992, Dr. Fields received the IEEE Award for Distinguished Contributions to Public Service. Dr. Fields is a Principal of the Council for Excellence in Government, is a Member of the Defense Science Board, and is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations."
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Arxan Technologies.
