The World Environment Foundation "strongly believes that poverty is the biggest polluter. Hence it has established strong partnerships with civil society organizations such as the S M Charitable trust in working amongst the poor and downtrodden sections of society both is the share of Delhi and the rural areas of Himachal Pradesh. It has chosen particularly Himachal as the mountain environment and forest recourses particularly are being degraded in India under the grabs of economic transformation. WEF has adopted Himachal to determine how proper management of national resources can lead to local prosperity and reduce pressure on movement to urban areas. It acts as a catalyst in improving the livelihood of the excluded sections of society in a sustainable manner through an interventional approach." [1]
