William O. Taylor
William O. Taylor is Chairman Emeritus of the Globe Newspaper Company, which publishes The Boston Globe, New England's largest daily newspaper.
A native Bostonian, born July 19, 1932, Mr. Taylor joined The Globe in 1956, after serving two years in the U. S. Army. He became publisher in 1978.
Mr. Taylor is also a Director of The Boston Globe.
A 1954 graduate of Harvard University with a B.A., Mr. Taylor was also educated at The Dexter School in Brookline, Massachusetts and St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire. He has received honorary degrees from Northeastern University (Doctor of Journalism); University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (Doctor of Humane Letters); Bentley College (Doctor of Humane Letters), and University of Massachusetts (Boston).
In community activities, Mr. Taylor is Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston; a Trustee of The Boston Public Library; Trustee of the Boston Public Library Foundation; Director of International Center for Journalists; Trustee of the International Crisis Group and Chairman Emeritus of The Freedom Trail Foundation.
A resident of Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Taylor and his wife, the former Sally Coxe, have three children: William Davis Taylor, II, born June 16, 1960; Edmund Coxe Taylor, born February 10, 1962, and Augustus Rumrill Taylor, born April 1, 1968. They also have three grandchildren, Molly Pope Taylor, born September, 1994; Madeline McGregor Taylor, born November 23, 1995, and Piper Anna Taylor, born December 24, 1995.
