William Dant

William Dant "directs the Institute of International Education’s Leadership Development Division, which administers international educational and exchange programs that develop professional and leadership skills in graduate students and professionals. He directs the Emerging Market Development Advisers Program (EMDAP) and Investing in Women in Development (IWID) Programs, funded the the U.S. Agency for International Development. Dant joined IIE in 1994, and until 2004 directed the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, a mid-career professional and leadership training program for developing-world professionals.

"Mr. Dant spent ten years in the U.S. federal service, working in international program management positions at the U.S. Information Agency (Fulbright Program) in Washington, DC, and at the Peace Corps, where he directed its education programs in Morocco and later served from Washington, DC as country officer for field offices across North Africa and Yemen. He also has worked as an international management consultant for Youth for Understanding International Exchange, assisting in this educational exchange organization’s program design, board development, evaluation and staff training in Europe, Latin America and the former Soviet Union. Earlier in his career, he taught at the School for International Education, Brattleboro, Vermont where he also managed intercultural and language training programs. Dant began his international career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa.

"Dant holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, and an M.A. from the School for International Training in Vermont, USA. He also studied at the University of Strasbourg, France and the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He is currently completing a Ph.D. in International Education Policy and Leadership at the University of Maryland.

He has served on the boards of Youth For Understanding de México, A.C. from 1990-1994, the International Book Bank, Inc. from 2000-2005 (Vice-chair, 2003-2005); and the Volunteers for Economic Growth Alliance (VEGA) from 2004 to present."
