Biographical Information

"Victoria Amato is the Senior Program Officer for Latin America at Freedom House. Born and raised in Argentina, she has more than 10 years of experience in the fields of journalism and human rights in Latin America. At Freedom House, she oversees human rights programs, including a Guatemala-based project to combat trafficking in persons and “Derecho a Voz” a web-based project designed to monitor and promote civil society participation at the Organization of American States (OAS).

"Prior to joining Freedom House, Victoria served as Communications and Advocacy Officer at the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL), where she coordinated media communication strategies and advocacy activities. Previously, she worked at the Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the OAS in the preparation of country and annual reports, and monitoring the state of freedom of expression in various countries. While in Argentina, Victoria worked as a reporter for several media outlets. She received her M.A. in Sociology from American University and holds degrees in Journalism from Universidad Catolica Argentina and in Social Sciences from UMUC Maryland. " [1]
