Verne Harris

Verne Harris "currently serves as the Project Manager for the Centre of Memory at the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The Centre is dedicated to providing memory resources in honor of Mr. Mandela and his work. Previously, Harris was the Director of the South African History Archive (SAHA), an independent archive that documents the struggles against apartheid and for justice in post-apartheid South Africa. He has also been a part-time lecturer in archives in the University of the Witwatersrand's post-graduate program in Heritage Studies. He has published widely in the fields of archives, records management, history, music, and fiction. He is author of Exploring Archives: An Introduction to Archival Ideas and Practice in South Africa (2000) and co-editor and a contributing author to Refiguring the Archive (2002). Most recently, he served on the team of editors and writers for A Prisoner in the Garden: Photos, letters, and notes from Nelson Mandela's 27 years in prison (2006)." [1]
