Vello Norman

Vello Norman, Ph.D. was Vice President of Research and Development at Lorillard Tobacco Company. He was a Physical chemist and was employed by Lorillard since the 1970's and known to have remained employed there until at least circa 1991.
Biography
In 1985 Vello Norman was the Director of Quality Control at Lorillard in Greensboro, North Carolina. He did his undergraduate and graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C. and obtained his Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 1958. After he joined Lorillard in 1979 he was a Scientist in the Research and Development Department and before that a member of the technical staff at Ethyl Corporation and then at Liggett & Myers Inc.. His main research interests included the formation, chemistry and filtration of tobacco smoke. He published numerous papers and is the holder of 29 U.S. patents.[1]
