Hello, and welcome to Congresspedia.org. I'm Avelino Maestas, the assistant managing editor of Congresspedia. Thanks so much for all of your additions to the Superdelegate Transparency Project. This project has been entirely driven by citizen-journalists, and it’s been incredibly successful as a result. As I’m sure you know, there’s a lot of controversy revolving around the superdelegates, and our project isn’t immune. Through our partnership with DCW, we’ve developed a standard for endorsements that requires a direct quote of support before we’ll list an endorsement. Otherwise, we’re leaving the SD marked as “undeclared.”
I know this presents a problem in the situations like that of Herman Farrell. We’re developing a system of identifying leaners and wobblers, which should be complete by the end of the day, and that should make it easier to indicate possible support for undeclared superdelegates. We hope this, in turn, will drive users (like yourself) to further investigate fence-sitters. Farrel doesn’t quite fall within our set standards (though, since this is a wiki perhaps you can help make the case that the standard needs to be modified) and for that reason I’ll be shifting him back to undeclared.
The case of Helen Langan is a bit more nuanced: the article does indicate she supports Clinton, but the level of support appears to be up for interpretation. I read the article showing Langan endorsing Clinton as a voter, but in her role as a superdelegate she seems to be a populist: she’ll wait to see what voters nationwide decide. For now, we decided her support is soft enough to warrant an "undeclared" designation.
I’m posting this information to the talk pages on both the Utah and New York pages, and shifting those two superdelegates back to "undeclared" for now.
