User talk:PA03
Hi PA03, welcome to Congresspedia. I'm one of the editors on Sourcewatch and noticed that you have had a few tries at sorting out some formatting on the page you've been working on. I'll go through and tidy some of the formatting commands when you have a break from editing the page (I don't want you to lose any information you are posting). So drop me a note here when you are finished or are going to have a 5 minute break and I'll work on the page. cheers --Bob Burton 22:44, 25 March 2008 (EDT)
- Tks, OK I'll do a little tweaking and one of the Congresspedia editors will give it a lookover in the morning. thanks.--Bob Burton 22:56, 25 March 2008 (EDT)
SW: Issue formatting and sourcing on Kathy Dahlkemper's page
Hello, and welcome to SourceWatch and its Congresspedia project. I'm Avelino Maestas, the assistant managing editor of Congresspedia. I see you've already been in contact with Bob Burton, one of the Sourcewatch editors. I've also taken a look at Kathy Dahlkemper's page and wanted to thank you for your additions - I think people in Pennsylvania will find them valuable.
I've made some slight changes to the content you provided:
- I changed the page-structure to include a "Positions, record and controversies," our standard section for including information on a candidate or politician's record and what they've said about particular issues.
- Under the Iraq issue subsection, I rewrote some of the content to make it more objective, and so that it would read less like a campaign statement. Congresspedia is an incredible venue for recording what a candidate or politician has said or for documenting their record on a particular issue. However, due to the encyclopedic nature of Congresspedia, we try to avoid posting straight quotes. I would encourage you to perform a similar rewrite on the remaining sections, because readers generally find information more valuable and reliable when presented in that way.
- I also included a reference citation in the Iraq subsection, which you can use as a template for the other subsections you created on the page. If you have any problems including citations, let me know and I can help you out.
If you're from Pennsylvania, you may find the Pennsylvania Congresspedia portal interesting - it lists every candidate and incumbent from the state. If you'd like to report who has filed endorsements in the congressional races, we have an instruction page here.
Another thing people are participating in right now is adding each member of Congress' record on recent controversial votes. The Congresspedia staff wrote up some great summaries of the votes and you just have to look up how any member voted and fill in some blanks. Full details are here.
Thanks again, and if you need any help you can consult the quick guide to editing, leave a message on my talk page or email me at this page.
