US Inc.
U.S., Inc. is "a 501(c)(3) 'umbrella' foundation with very broad charitable and educational purposes."[1] According to its website, the group is dedicated to a "variety of projects related to the conservation of natural resources, population, immigration and language policy, promoting national unity, encouraging the study of foreign languages, and such things as the sponsorship of the Foreign Policy Association's Great Decisions program in our area."[1]
U.S., Inc. was founded by John Tanton in 1982 and it is the parent organization of ProEnglish and The Social Contract Press.[2] According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, "The Social Contract Press (TSCP) routinely publishes race-baiting articles penned by white nationalists. The press is a program of U.S. Inc, the foundation created by John Tanton, the racist founder and principal ideologue of the modern nativist movement."[3]
In 2011, US Inc. reported $803,417 in total revenue, $1,617,903 in total expenses, and $$1,593,524 in net assets.[4]

The U.S., Inc. website states the organization has "broad charitable and educational purposes with projects related to conserving natural resources, studying illegal and legal immigration, promoting national unity and publishing a quarterly journal, called The Social Contract. U.S., Inc. and ProEnglish work to promote and encourage national unity by preservation of the English language and making it the official language of governmental operations. U.S., Inc. seeks to achieve its goals primarily through public education, research, and litigation."[2]

The Colcom Foundation's 2011 Form 990 lists two grants made to U S Inc.: $160,000 for "public education on the benefit of official English and on the personal value of familiarity with other languages" -- most likely to ProEnglish -- and $50,000 for "public education on the impact of immigration on natural resources, wages, education, infrastructure, and taxes" -- most likely to one of the Social Contract projects.[6]
The Scaife Family Foundation contributed a total of $75,000 to US Inc. from 1998-1999, according to Bridge Project.[7]
