Turning Point
"Founded in 1964 by Barry Richards as the 'Camberwell Alcohol Project', we have a long history of turning lives around. From this one base in London, we have gone from strength to strength, now offering over 200 services across England and Wales.
"In 1969, we began our first work with London drug users. And just three years later, we opened our first service outside of the capital - Manchester's Richards House alcohol service. By 1984 we were running 21 substance misuse services around the country. The same year, we also introduced mental health services which grew significantly as we began to provide services ranging from outreach to residential support.
"In 1991 we set up our first learning disability service in Wiltshire - and in 1997 we began our extensive work within the criminal justice system. Today, Turning Point has proudly grown from a small alcohol project to a leading provider of health and social care." [1]
Turning Point appointed Fiona Ritchie as their new Managing Director for Learning Disability services.
