Tim Penny
Tim Penny was a Democratic Congress representative for Minnesota from 1982 to 1994.[1] He is a vice chairman of the board of directors of the Concord Coalition, a group that specializes in taking the fiscal austerity message outside the beltway with costly tours and town hall meetings, in 2013.[2] Penny has known ties to controversial Wall Street billionaire Peter Peterson (a co-founder of the Concord Coalition, who uses his wealth to underwrite a diversity of organizations and PR campaigns to generate public support for slashing Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, citing concerns over "unsustainable" federal budget deficits.[3] He has been a Senior Fellow at the Humphrey Institute[4] and National Advisory Board Chairman of For Our Grandchildren, a nonprofit organization that advocates social security "reform."[5] The group is a project of the American Institute for Full Employment, a nonprofit organization that since 1994 has been promoting welfare reform programs, worked on unemployment insurance and social security.[6]
