In 2002, Tim Le Roy was the spokesman for Tarwin Valley Coastal Guardians (see Coastal Guardians). Then four years later in 2006, he also became the spokesman for Coastal Guardians Victoria. Both community groups are opposed to the inappropriate siting of wind farms.
In a letter to the editor he complained not only about the location of one proposed wind farm but the economics of wind power on the grounds that "wind turbines only produce at capacity 10% of the time."
"Their output is so variable, inefficient and unpredictable, they require constant back-up by the very power generators they seek to replace. This is not progress but subsidy abuse by an unviable industry," he wrote. [1]
