The Showalter Group
The Showalter Group (TSG) is a publications company that specialises in corporate and association "grassroots" programs.
TSG describes itself as "a resource for corporations and associations that want to increase their grassroots and PAC effectiveness".[1] On its website TSG states that its approack revolves "around establishing sustainable PAC, grassroots, and lobbying improvements that serve the org-anization for the long-term, rather than ad hoc grassroots, PAC and lobbying campaigns and that "improved grassroots and PAC performance comes from investment in the application of scientific influence principles, standardized administration and management procedures, organizational support structures, and motivated staff and advocates."[2]
The founder of the company, Amy Showalter, has authored "105 Ways to Build Relationships with Your Elected Officials", which TSG describes as describing over "over 100 legislative, social, campaign, political and general networking techniques that results in more active advocates."[3] (While the book only sells for $8, the minimum order is for 100 copies). Endorsements for the booklet include statements from representatives of Southwest Airlines, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, Maine Association of Broadcasters and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
