I don't think what is there so far is actually what was meant in the original article. My reading is the the original is more about consuming nations controlling/influencing the suppliers precisely because the two are geographically separated.--Bob Burton 00:17, 14 Dec 2004 (EST)

A very interesting point, alas the bird's eye (distorted) view of the ground below is what motivates all movement at the top of the pyramid! :)
