Swift Boat Sailors Association
The Swift Boat Sailors Association, Inc. is "an organization created by and for the personnel who manned or supported U.S. Navy PCFs (Patrol Craft Fast) or SWIFT Boats assigned to Coastal Squadron One (COSRON1) in Vietnam between 1965 and 1970. [1]
"SWIFT Boats were initially used in Operation Market Time to patrol the coastline of South Vietnam to prevent enemy infiltration of troops, supplies and munitions by sea. Best estimates put the number of personnel assigned in a crew or support role to be between 3,000 and 3,500. ... Swift Boats, as part of Task Force 115, became the workhorse of the Navy's coastal surveillance force." [2]
