Sunila Abeysekera Executive Director of INFORM, Human Rights Documentation Centre.
"Active since 1989, INFORM is a Sri Lankan human rights organization with a special focus onmonitoring, documentation and networking. It also functions as a library and documentationcenter for journalists, students and others seeking information regarding the human rightssituation in Sri Lanka.Sri Lankan activist for women's rights and human rights; Ms. Abeysekera has focused onminority rights, human rights in conflict situations and issues of intersectionality and diversity inrights. She was one of five recipients of the UN Human Rights Prize in 1998, celebrating the50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Ms. Abeysekera is director of INFORM Human Rights Documentation Centre, based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is a memberof the Women and Media Collective and the Women's Support Group of Sri Lanka. Ms.Abeysekera is also a member of the UNDP Civil Society Organizations Committee, founding member of South Asian Network of Gender Trainers and Activists and the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development. She works in Sri Lanka and internationally as a trainer in conflict transformation and peace building, gender and human rights, is a writer and film critic, and is an author of several papers on women's rights, human rights and women's issues inconflict situations."
