Biographical Information
"Steve Auckland was appointed Group Managing Director of Northcliffe Media in March 2011, and subsequently Group CEO in April 2012. During this time Northcliffe Media increased profits by +34% year on year and increased their profit margin by 3 percentage points.
"Steve Auckland was appointed Group Managing Director of Northcliffe Media in March 2011, and subsequently Group CEO in April 2012. As a result of a turnaround programme, at the 2011/12 half year, Northcliffe Media increased profits by +34% year on year and had increased their profit margin by 3 percentage points. Previously he was Managing Director of Metro, (the national daily free title launched in 1999) which he grew from a circulation of 800,000 to become the largest and most profitable free newspaper in the world. Steve began his career at Yorkshire Post Newspapers (the largest regional newspaper in the UK) in 1981. During this time Yorkshire Post Newspapers won some of the most coveted awards in the newspaper industry including Newspaper of the Year on three occasions. The group was subsequently sold to Johnston Press in 2002 for £560m, a return of over 22 times for original investors."[1]
