Steve Appel is communications director of The Joni and Friends International Disability Center in Agoura Hills, California.
Joni and Friends is a ministry founded in 1979 by Joni Eareckson Tada "to communicate the gospel and equip Christ-honoring churches worldwide to evangelize and disciple people affected by disabilities."[1] In July 2006, Tada was present when President George W. Bush vetoed Congress's stem cell research legislation.[2]

On September 6, 2007, Appel was named as a member of 2008 Republican hopeful Mitt Romney's National Faith and Values Steering Committee.[3]
