Biographical Information
"Stephen Bell is Group Chief Executive of The Cyrenians. A specialist in finance and business, he has wide-ranging experience in both the not-for-profit and private sectors. Stephen has worked for The Cyrenians for more than 15 years in a number of roles, first as Finance Manager, then Operations Manager, and since 2001, as Chief Executive. As Chief Executive, Stephen has overseen and implemented significant change at The Cyrenians.
"Since 2003 annual turnover has increased by £6 million and the number of employees has increased by 300%. The Cyrenians now supports in excess of 4,000 excluded individuals each year. Stephen takes great pride in the fact that in 2008 The Cyrenians were named the Charity Times National Charity of the Year and in June 2009 the Charity received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The Cyrenians are now acknowledged as a national leaders specialising in support of homeless and excluded individuals. Over 26% of The Cyrenians employees have previously been homeless themselves.
"Stephen is a trustee on the Board of Directors of Homeless Link and also sits on a Government Select Committee investigating homelessness and related issues. Stephen was recently awarded the prestigious Sieff Award in recognition of his work encouraging local businesses to work with the region's communities." [1]
